Back for good (again!)

Well, many of you wouldn’t be surprised by this post. I am back. For good!. Yeah!.

Well, in the last months I’ve been extremely busy with lot of things in my life. First of all, this is probably one of the worst years on my college career, mostly because I am already doing work on K4 & K5. Yay! Lil kids!. I know. They are awesome and they learn a lot, but the duty requires a lot of me. I am currently doing all my subjects, so that takes all the time I used to have at home to play videogames, eat non-healthy food and to write this blog.

StarWarrior isn’t abandoned. I am just, waiting for some ideas to come up to my mind in order to keep doing my videogame. It’s hard, it’s complex and I have like no time to sit on my chair and drop code. I know I promised a BETA or something playable by march, but I learnt my lesson, and I wont promise anything more, because I will fail again.

In the other hand, Argentina beat Costa Rica and we have a match on Saturday against Uruguay. Wish us luck!

J-League soccer Prime Goal – Way before Pro Evolution

Yeah I know, I’ve been a lil faraway from the Blog, first of all, I want to send a tons of hugs to my japanese friends around the world, that are suffering now but I know they will stand up and they will recover from such terrible lost. Today, we have a japanese game that didn’t do well in America/Europe but was a sensation in Japan.

We are in the 90′s, FIFA international Soccer was kicking butts in the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, even some people had the 3D0 version (lucky bastards). There was a soccer fever everywhere, titles like Capcom Shootout, Goal, Kick Off, Pelé Soccer, Megaman Soccer, ISS, we were infested by soccer titles everywhere. Just like any dumb trend, videogame companies were releasing a bunch of cheap soccer games just to make a quick buck, don’t look me like that, you know they still do it in the XXI century, you just need to check the Nintendo DS / Sony PSP library. One year before EA sports even thought about making a good soccer game, in Japan, a soccer game was very popular, beating a lot of other titles for the Super Nintendo, this game was: J-League Soccer Prime Goal.

Visual pinball, giving me some fun

I am pretty sure all my retro collegues from all over the world are already aware of Visual Pinball right? Well, if you don’t, let me tell you that Visual Pinball is a basic software that let you play all those old pinballs machines in your computer.

How they do this? Well, basically Visual Pinball is a Pinball editor, this means you can create your own pinball tables, and also there’s a great community of people who already made a lot of tables based in the real tables we used to play way back when we were kids.

When I was young, the 4 tables I remember the most were Terminator II, Lethal Weapon, Addams Family (the one in the pic) and of course, TMNT pinball, so being able to play them on my computer is so much fun.

If you have some time to spare, just go to visual pinball forums, register and download the software, the visual basic routines and some boards. Please, pay attention to this: in order to make run Visual Pinball you need to have Pinmame in your computer, but don’t worry, all the files you need are in the forum. So what are you waiting? You want to play some Addams Family and beat my high-score? I don’t think so!

Prehistoric Isle 1930 – Dying in the 30′s

Frustration. That’s the word that defines this game: Frustration. When I was young, I used to spent hours at arcades, even when I had no money, I just watched others playing or just the machines playing demos. One of those games was Prehistoric Isle 1930. None ever touched that game, “it is cursed” my friends told me, because none was able to beat it without wasting a lot of coins on it. Well, I spent a lot of days thinking about this, getting a bunch of coins from my folks and give it a try, it didn’t look hard…

Renegade – Kicking butts on Master System

I know, I know, you all remember the tv show “The Renegade” with Lorenzo Lamas, it kinda sucked, but it had hot females on it all the time. Way back before that shity show, actually in 1986, Taito released a game called Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun, it was a simple beat em up arcade, similar to Double Dragon.  When this japanese game got released in America and Europe, it was called : Renegade.
